“I feel like a bullet” 20th of November 2012

Mainly just a travelling day so not much to report! We travelled from Nikko to Kyoto so it was fairly lengthy, however we did get to travel on a Shinkansen Bullet Train! (All included with the JR pass <3) They are indeed just like bullets, tried to get a picture of one in the station but they are damn fast! Really comfortable, clean and mega efficient, like most things in Japan it seems! We had some enormous apples which we munched to pass the time, so all good!

Our hostel, Khaosan hostel, was really easy to find and only a ten-minute walk from the station, always good, seems like a pretty good place with free PC’s and tea! A definite upgrade from the previous place!

Had a quick shower and went for a little explore, we visited the Yasaka Shrine, which was really stunning as it was lit up with hundreds of lanterns! Also it was strangely empty, I’d expected lots of crowds as apparently evening is the best time to visit!? This was brilliant though as we got some good shots without any potential photo bombers!

We then attempted to find Gion Corner but we got a tad lost and our bellies somehow directed us back to the centre and into to a Japanese fast food style place…food wasn’t amazing (especially after our immense chilli Ramen in Nikko) but not bad for the price

Headed back afterwards to chill at the hostel, planning to be all refreshed for cycling around the city tomorrow!
